On 23 November 2024, Native Forest Day, the Lisnave community gathered again inside the shipyard to plant the second island, two years after the first. This time the planting took on a dimension the first one did not have: the workers' children took part alongside their parents, making the day as much about family as about work.
With this second island, the shipyard now holds two resilient ecosystems side by side, adding up to more than 300 native trees and shrubs across both plantings. Valorsul contributed 1,100 kg of compost, and NAM Mushroom Farm handled the ground cover with mycelium.
Beyond the familiar environmental benefits — a smaller carbon footprint, better air quality, shade islands for temperature control — this second planting reinforced something less visible: the environmental awareness already established in the company two years earlier, now passed on to families as well.
