From the air, each mini-forest looks like a planet. A world closed in on itself, surrounded by concrete, asphalt or metal — and green inside.
This video brings together aerial footage of 8 biodiversity islands planted across Portugal since 2022: a naval shipyard in Setúbal, schools in Setúbal and Seixal, a motorway service station in Oeiras, higher education institutes and a care home in Sesimbra.
A movement that starts at 50m²
8 mini-forests become 8 planets 🌍🌳 People become satellites of a world that grows on its own. 8 ecosystems that closed in on themselves — tiny worlds of biodiversity scattered across Portugal.
The Miyawaki method allows you to create high-density native forests in spaces from 50m². In 3 years, the forest closes its canopy and becomes self-sustaining — no irrigation, no intensive maintenance.
What you see in this video
Each island is filmed by drone at its current growth stage. Some are less than 1 year old, others already exceed 3 metres in height. The difference is visible — and it is irreversible.
This is the documentary record of a project that started with a simple idea: plant native forest in places where nobody expected to find it.
