Shipping to Portugal and the rest of the European Union: €8.19 per order, taxes included.
Handling takes 1 to 2 working days (the piece is printed after you buy it) and delivery 5 to 15 working days.
Returns accepted up to 28 days after dispatch, by mail, with a full refund. Outside the UK the return postage is paid by the buyer.

SOLO — four islands, one word.

The word SOLO is not a typeface. It is four islands: each letter is a mini-forest planted in the ground, and it took two years to plant all four. Since then I go back every year and photograph them from above.

Each year that gives a new tee edition, always different from the last one — the trees grow, the canopies close, the green changes. Every print is the portrait of those letters in that year, and that year never comes back.

The name reads two ways: in Portuguese solo means soil, the ground everything starts from — and it also means alone, because that is how each of these forests begins, surrounded by concrete, asphalt or industrial land.

The photographs behind the prints

Before there is a print there is a photograph with a date and a place. These are them — the bumblebee on the thistle, the solitary bee, the honey bee in flight, the paper wasp nest, the ladybird, the aerial view of the Lisnave island. All taken inside the islands, by me.

The shop is made in the island.

There is no fashion campaign behind this. I walk the islands with a camera, photograph whatever shows up — a bumblebee on a flower, a ladybird, the insect hotel, the aerial view of the shipyard mini-forest — and those images become prints. The revenue helps fund the next plantings.

A note on the images: the project logo is an original illustration and the word SOLO is made of real aerial photographs of the four islands — neither uses digital art. The remaining prints (insects, flowers and other illustrations) were drawn from my own photographs of the islands, with the help of digital image tools, including AI. The starting point is always a real photograph, taken by me in one of the islands.
